The TaylorMade Tour Preferred CB Irons boast the highest MOI of the three 2011 TP irons. It features a forged face with a cast, undercut cavity, promoting a pure forged feel with the forgiveness of a traditional cavity back iron. It has a high Moment of Inertia to provide optimal distance control and forgiveness. The precision weighting port guarantees precise swingweights and optimal center of gravity locations from club to club. The face also features TaylorMade's Inverted Cone Technology, which varies the thickness of the face itself so shots that are slightly mis-hit create nearly the same ball speed as shots hit in the sweet spot.
As the largest of the three new irons, the TP CB also produces the highest MOI values, which is expected, as it's the most forgiving of the three. A main contributor to the forgiving nature of the TP CB is the incorporation of TaylorMade's Inverted Cone Technology (ICT) – the only one of the new Left handed TP irons that does so. If you're not familiar with ICT, quite simply it promotes faster ball speeds across an expanded area on the club face.
Different with TaylorMade Tour Preferred MB Forged Irons, the Tour Preferred CB Forged Irons is a multi-material forged cavityback design, with a two-piece head. The TPCB's advanced construction combines a forged face with a cast body. The undercut cavity delivers the forgiveness of a deep cavityback, whilst producing the pure feel of a forged iron. The Inverted Cone Technology (the only iron of the three with ICT) promotes faster ball speed on off-centre hits, and helps make the TaylorMade Tour Preferred CB Irons extremely forgiving for consistent distance with every club. The TPCB also features a precision-weighting port that guarantees consistent swingweight throughout the set while ensuring a lower centre of gravity to optimize ball flight on every iron. Additionally, the TaylorMade Tour Preferred CB Iron features the advanced groove design to promote more spin and control from the rough.
The TP CB is the only model that can be purchased with graphite shafts, though the standard is the new, lightweight 110-gram True Temper Dynamic Gold XP steel shaft. Not only is this new shaft considerably lighter than the standard Dynamic Gold, it also promotes a higher ball flight. As mentioned, there is a graphite shaft option which comes custom for this set from Fujikura. Two flex profiles will be available, a 90-gram stiff flex and an 80-gram regular flex.
The new Tour Preferred Forged CB Irons (CB stands for Cavity Back) are created by plasma-welding a 8620 carbon steel cast body and a slightly firmer, forged, carbon steel face. This construction allowed TaylorMade to incorporate an undercut in the back of the club, which in turn let designers move more weight lower and deeper to increase forgiveness. It really deserves to be put into your retail golf bags. I would like to recommand the discount ping golf bag to you.
