Hainan golf tournament offers $1.28m prize

A golf tournament, featuring professional players competing for a "winner takes all" prize of $1.28 million, will be held in late October in the capital of Hainan, China's southernmost province.

International movie stars and celebrity golfers Hugh Grant and Matthew McConaughey will play at the inaugural event for the Mission Hills Star Trophy, to be held from October 28-31 at the new Mission Hills Resort Hainan, organizers said in Haikou on Thursday.

The announcement followed the opening of the 2010 Haikou Golf and Tourism Forum Thursday morning in the tropical island, which is striving to build itself as a top international tourism resort by 2020.

The inaugural golf forum was attended by Hainan Governor Luo Baoming, and golfing industry heavyweights such as two-time Open Championship winner Greg Norman, and International Golf Federation co-secretary Peter Dawson.

The professional segment of the tournament will feature 20 male and female professional golfers competing for a "winner takes all" prize of US$1.28 million, the richest individual prize in Asian golf, according to a press release.

The professional field will also include two of the game's female superstars, Annika Sorenstam and Se Ri Pak, it said.

Chairman of the Hong Kong-based Mission Hills Group David Chu, who began to invest in China's golf industry 18 years ago, said he believed developing leisure sports would contribute to the country's effort to shift to a development mode based on a green and low-carbon economy.

By the way, I want to introduce golf drivers on sale at wholesale golf shop.

PING Rapture V2 Driver

PING Rapture V2 Driver

Details:

Slightly Elongated Shaped 460cc Multi-Material Head

Slightly elongated head profile produces a driver with a higher moment of inertia resulting in straighter drives on off-center hits. The increased "footprint" also inspires more confidence over every drive.

Titanium Head with External Tungsten weight Pads

Ping engineers have utilized a titanium body and tungsten perimeter weighting to optimize the center of gravity location to create a high launch and low spin rate as well as increase the moment of inertia resulting in longer and straighter drives.

Thin Crown Design Technology

Low stress areas are "thinned" resulting in additional discretionary weight that is redistributed into the tungsten perimeter weighting helping to optimize launch and spin along with increasing the moment of inertia.

Head Designed for Powerful Sound

The multi-material head design is fine tuned using finite element analysis (FEA). FEA is a tool that helps PING engineers optimize the head design in a virtual environment for performance, durability, feel and sound. The finished result is a driver with powerful performance and sound.

Thin Machined Variable Face with Robotic Plasma weld

Precisely machined, thin variable-thickness face leads to exceptional performance including higher ball speed. The Robotic Plasma Weld improves durability and saves weight, which is redistributed in the external tungsten weight pads.

New Dual Rapture Graphic Alignment Aid

New, visually appealing alignment aid will inspire additional confidence in your game by making sure you are aligned squarely to your target every time.
