Callaway RAZR Hawk Driver with Super Lightweight Review

Now we can say that Callaway's composite offerings have been the strongest part of their wood range and the RAZR Hawk continues to impress. The firm-tipped Aldila RIP helps to produce a penetrating flight and the sound is very solid. 


 

The Callaway RAZR Hawk Driver features a Forged Composite sole and crown design, containing over 23 million turbostratic carbon fibres that reinforce 67% of the club head. This incredibly strong and light material allows designers to precisely control the thickness of the head like never before, giving a new level of performance coupled with extremely high MOI (resistance to twisting). The lightweight Forged Composite design also creates faster head speed, ball speed and greater distance without compromising forgiveness.

 

The lightweight carbon is one of the highlights of the RAZR Hawk. Exceptionally light carbon-fiber material provides the foundation to form the clubhead's crown and sole. Golf Clubs Callaway didn't stop there though, the overall design is enhanced with a spin-cast nickel, rear-weight pad, and a thin aluminum skid plate on the sole. To assist on those dreadful but inevitable, off center hits, a chemically milled titanium cupface was added.  This sealed the deal on the new RAZR Hawk

 

The Callaway RAZR Hawk Driver also features Callaway's latest Hyperbolic Face Technology. This chemical milling process selectively removes excess material for precision thickness control across the face, and produces consistently high ball speeds for long distance.

 

The aerodynamic head shape is streamlined thanks to surface contours that reduce energy loss from drag during the downswing by 43% compared to the Callaway FT-9 Driver. This improvement means the RAZR Hawk creates higher impact speeds for added distance
